From Maternity to Newborn with the Griffin Family
Dallas Maternity to Newborn Family Session
Holly reached out while she was 23 weeks pregnant, looking for maternity photos that felt natural and full of joy. She wanted a session that included her husband Aaron, their 4-year-old son Jairus, and of course the anticipation of welcoming their new baby boy. We knew right away that this was a perfect fit for our maternity and newborn package, which allows families to celebrate both the bump and the baby with ease.
For the maternity session, we headed to Oak Point Nature Preserve in Plano. The preserve is one of our favorite locations for its variety of backdrops and easy access. Holly chose two dresses, one in maroon from her first pregnancy and one in yellow from her baby shower. Both reflected her personality and brought such warmth to the photos. With the help of our portable changing tent, outfit changes were simple and comfortable. We built in time for portraits of Holly alone, the full family together, and sweet pairings like Holly with Jairus, Holly with Aaron, and plenty of moments where Jairus got to play and just be himself. He was a champ, especially with a bubble gun at the end, which made for some playful, candid images that matched the family’s fun energy.
When baby Xander arrived, we continued the story with a newborn session at home. Holly had mentioned that while she loved the idea of outdoor images, she also wanted something intimate and true to their family life. Home sessions are perfect for that. We photographed quiet, tender moments of the family together, Jairus holding his baby brother, and the joy of welcoming Xander into their home. Because our approach is documentary-style, the session felt less like a production and more like spending time together while we gently guided the family into light and natural interactions.
